Artist and painter Frank Gonzales takes what forms in nature and makes it his own. He likes to combine elements that may seem believable as a picture, but wouldn’t normally thrive in real life. Frank Gonzales challenges himself by rarely ever planning his paintings in advance, letting the spontaneity of a background color or single image function as a jumping off point for the rest of his painting. Fragmented compositions featuring birds and flowers play a prominent role in the artwork of Frank Gonzales, as do bright, exaggerated colors and simple, almost ordinary backgrounds. Frank Gonzales has spent many years in Queens, New York but has recently returned to his home in Arizona where he paints as a full-time occupation.
