Arthur

“Arthur” by Tim Cotterill is a limited edition bronze owl sculpture. Tim is known around the world for his colorful, collectable and whimsical bronze frog sculptures. Many of his collectors don’t even know that before Tim ever created a frog he made one-of-a-kind birds of prey out of fabricated metal. This was long before he moved to America. At the time he spent his days at a chop shop working on custom motorcycles and his evenings on his sculptures. Most of his materials were bits and pieces of mufflers acquired from his place of business. After moving to the states Tim struggled selling his birds at art fairs and street festivals. It was in the early 90’s that Tim began making a series of cute, miniature frog accessories and sculptures. Today Tim has referred back to his early work and now devotes time in his studio to a special series of limited edition birds of prey. 2014 Tim released a Silver Queen favorite “Shakespeare”; we liked it so much we chose “Shakespeare” for our 2014 exclusive show sculpture (shows) “Minerva.” Our exclusive owl was released in an edition of eleven and is the smallest edition Cotterill has created to this day. Even though “Arthur” sold out at the foundry in record time the Silver Queen purchased over fifty pieces from this edition and we still have him in stock. Buy “Arthur” or any Tim Cotterill sculpture with our 100% thirty day money back guarantee. Feel free to call the gallery if you’d like to add “Arthur” to your collection.

Would you like to meet Tim Cotterill? You should join Silver Queen Fine Art for our 11th annual Frogman Collectors Weekend in Park City, Utah. Date has yet to be determined but it will likely be late summer or early fall. If you are not on our mailing list please call the gallery today.

In fact, we're so confident you'll love your Tim Cotterill Frogman sculpture, we sell each one with a 30-day money back guarantee - backed by Frogman Publishing on every piece from the Frogman collection.

About the Frogman: Tim Cotterill began creating art when he was a child growing up in Leicester England. But it wasn’t until the early 1970’s that he began his artistic career creating one-of-a-kind bird sculptures from scrap metal he acquired while working in a chop shop. Apprenticing as an engineer and intrigued with both metalwork and nature, Tim soon became a master metal sculptor - creating over a thousand bird and animal sculptures made from scrap metal he found at his local junk yards. Those early works of art sold for nothing compared to what his work sells for today. Over a period of 10 years he crafted around 400 birds and hundreds of other animals sculptures - some of which sold at Sotheby's. Of those precious early Tim Cotterill pieces, many of them now now sell for between $7,000 - $25,000 dollars!

During the late 1980’s early 1990’s Tim Cotterill moved to the USA and sold his metalwork pieces at street shows and festivals, but he didn’t find true success until he started making his limited edition bronze frogs. It was only in Venice did he truly discover frogs as a sculptural form through which he could express his delightful sense of humor. Growing up in the UK, Tim had developed a lifelong love of things that go jump in the night, and so frogs were a natural progression for his artwork. "As a little boy, I always loved looking for frogs in the fields of England."

Today, Tim Cotterill is so well known for his bronze frog sculptures that he is frequently refered to as "The Frogman" or simply, "Frogman Tim Cotterill." His collection of limited edition bronze sculptures are unique, striking and painted with colorful patinas that delight everyone who sees them. Tim has an uncontrollable passion for frogs and loves everything about them — their faces, their webbed feet, their springy legs and their playful nature. What makes Frogman art so famous is the way Tim incorporates every possible expression, contour, and subtlety of frogs found in nature into his colorfully enameled bronze sculptures.

Frogman Review: The Frogman’s frogs are unique because so many of them bear human traits and personalities - a dancer, a swimmer, a prince charming, etc. These energetic, playful frogs are snapped up by people all around the world, including many celebrities. Since no two frogs are alike, the process of creating a bronze frog sculpture of any size (large or small) is painstaking and meticulous. The Frogman begins by creating a pose for his frog on a simple wire frame. "Then I'll get car body filler and start laying it on and sanding it back until it builds and builds." Finally when the sculpture is smooth enough, he sends off the finished frog sculpture to his foundry to be cast in bronze and finished with a decorative patina. Tim Cotterill doesn't just make frog sculptures! In fact, this famous Frogman is now producing geckos, birds and koi fish sculptures that are just as popular (if not more popular) than his famous frog figurines - and they are flying out of the shops and galleries at an incredible rate. Tim Cotterill's bronze frog sculptures capture the whimsical character, the jewel-like quality, and the pure joy of these beautiful little creatures. They are delight to look at and a joy to hold. Now the only question is, which Frogman bronze sculpture sale are you going to add to your home next?
