Released in 1994 ‘Ballet Mistress’ is an original hand pulled stone lithograph. EA of 16 (French for Exemplar Artiste or Artist Proof.)
Stone lithography was the first printmaking medium to allow an artist to naturally ‘paint’ or ‘draw’ onto a flat stone to create an image. The basic process of lithography is as follows: artist paints/draws on stone with a greasy substance, the stone is moistened with water, oil-based ink is rolled onto the stone, a piece of paper is pressed onto the stone. This process can be repeated multiple times.
