Children’s-Zoo-by-Trent-Manning

Childrens Zoo

“Childrens Zoo” is a whimsical yet haunting jewel from Trent Manning’s 2016 collection. His mixed media sculptures are each created from vintage found objects, reclaimed wood and industrial metals, clay, burlap and then finally handprinted. “Childrens Zoo” was made to easily mount on any wall or can also sit flat and be displayed on your mental or book shelves. This piece measures twenty-three inches high, thirty inches wide and sits six inches deep. “Children’s Zoo” was inspired by every parents desire to cage their children at one time or another.  It features a blond child standing beside a water bucked, trapped or fenced inside a barn stall. The black handmade frame is solid wood, barn stall and fence are made of repurposed industrial metal and the bucket is a vintage treasure. Trent’s characters are made from a portion of a retired bowling pin that is wrapped in burlap, her feet are carved wood, her head is sculpted from clay and finally painted rope is placed on top for hair.

Trent Manning

Artist Trent Manning is a disillusioned cynic, with an odd sense of humor, who still clings tightly to his inner child. Inspired by children’s toys, many of Trent Manning's mixed media pieces may seem innocent at first glance, but there is something offbeat, dark, humorous or macabre about each of his art pieces. It’s this balance of light and dark that have become a signature theme in much of Trent Manning's work. Using mismatched objects such as discarded pieces of metal, screws, wooden handles, old tools, and wire and them combining them with various mediums, such as woodworking, painting, and sculpting, Trent Manning is able to create a powerful piece of art with a sense of history usually lacking in modern modern artwork and materials. The following Trent Manning art pieces are currently for sale at the Silver Queen Fine Art gallery in downtown Park City, Utah.
