“The Collector” by Trent Manning is the signature piece from his 2016 Collection. This captivating, somewhat macabre sculpture will be the most talked about, thought provoking piece is someone’s contemporary art collection; it might as well be you. This piece measures thirty-one inches long, twenty-four inches tall and thirteen deep. The two characters featured are mounted on a vintage, wooden, mold casting used in the foundry business to cast bronze (estimated to be over 120 years old). Both characters are placed on two pieces of reclaimed wood with manipulated casters as not to roll. The male who is rowing with a stick is taking his lady friend on a trip. She stands behind in a cage built for her protection and safety. His body was taken from the center section of a retired bowling pin, his arms and hands are fabric wrapped wire and head sculpted from clay. Her body is also portion from the same retired bowling pin and wrapped in a burlap skirts. Her torso carved from wood, hand and arms are fabric wrapped wire and head sculpted from clay. Unlike the bald male character she was lovely dark locks cut from rope and painted.
